The position is responsible for preparing, reporting, and modeling in order to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the organization. Skilled in extracting financial data from various accounting and information systems, the Sr. Business Performance Analyst/Financial Analyst performs moderately complex statistical and financial analysis of data and reports, and prepares subsequent narrative analysis for executive and senior leadership.

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with business leaders on a cross functional team including Accounting, Finance, Operations, Technology, and Treasury to analyze and interpret financial data in order to extract and define relevant situations that impact financial or business decisions.

Design and develop financial modeling for forecasting, trending, and results analysis, as well as for compensation plans and other business initiatives.

Model, prepare and communicate company margin and expense budgets as well as monthly forecasts and provide reporting throughout the year tracking financial results vs. budgets and forecasts.

Perform complex analysis and interpret organizational data, including but not limited to data verification and mapping. Interpret data accurately and produce clear and comprehensive written analyses, graphics, tables, etc. for diverse internal and external audiences.

Own the financial planning process, including budget, rolling forecast, and strategic plan for operating expenses.

Translate ambiguous business problems into actionable analysis requirements that support project and process efficiency while developing metrics and KPI’s over functional areas of the business.

Prepare other ad hoc analyses as requested to measure the company’s operational effectiveness, performance against expectations, billable to non-billable headcount ratios, industry surveys, department specific modeling, and questions relating to P&Ls.

Utilize software programs such as SQL, Access, Excel, Management Reporter, PowerPoint and/or other business intelligence tools to extract needed data.

Provide leadership with planning and control information by assembling and analyzing historical trends and explaining processes and techniques.

Provide analytic support in financial fluctuation analyses with explanation for variances to budget and/or prior periods.

Work closely with accounting department on month-end close responsibilities, in order to help stream-line and improve manual processes

Perform all other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

SUPERVISES: Non-supervisory role

HUMAN INTERACTION/COMMUNICATION: In performing the job, an individual in this position experiences significant interface with the Chief Financial Officer, Controller, members of senior leadership, other managers and supervisors, other employees, customer representatives, and external vendors/suppliers.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) to ten (10) years of progressive corporate analytical experience including:

Exceptionally organized with great ability to flex as priorities and goals shift within the department or organization

Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Access skills, with particular focus on financial modeling and the use of advanced features of spreadsheets

Demonstrated expertise in and dedicated to innovating process improvements that improve performance and positively affect company profitability

EDUCATION: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field; MBA a plus.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Access with advanced level skill in Excel. Experience working with Oracle and Hyperion, IBM Cognos, SQL and other business intelligence or data warehousing software preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS: Subject to periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Work is performed in an office/hangar environment.
