Intelligent Waves (IW) Principal Engineers (PE’s) are leaders who think strategically and work toward long-range goals. As a member of the Innovation Division, which is the technical marketing arm of IW, PE’s will contribute to the company’s growth by providing technical expertise in their assigned technological space. PE’s work cooperatively with multi-disciplinary teams, vendors, and potential clients to advise, consult, and participate in applicable meetings, planning sessions, conferences, and industry panels as appropriate. IW PE’s will work closely with Account Executives in different market areas to assist with the capture of services and sales opportunities.

IW PE’s establish beneficial relationships with leading technologists and promote IW capability as well as create business opportunities by developing a solid reputation for quality service, performance, and technical ability. In addition, PE’s conduct research and self-study of next-generation technologies and investigate potential use cases to provide guidance and oversight on multiple projects in an innovative environment. IW PE’s will be required to produce white papers, establish relevant partnerships, conduct Proof of Concepts and Testing & Evaluations projects, and be an active member in their technological community.

PE’s will assist the Chief Technology Officer to scope and shape IWs’ technical vision, technology development, and will also serve to ensure engineering excellence and sound solutions for business development efforts.

Principal Engineer – Data Analytics


Collects, evaluates, and prepares research and/or other complex statistical data for a specific unit of the institution. Prepares statistical and narrative reports and recommendations, and participates in the analysis and interpretation of data as appropriate. Develops, maintains, and ensures quality control of databases and may assist in development and implementation of measurement systems.


Develops data collection instruments; develops and utilizes instruments and methods for the evaluation and quality control of research or operational data.

Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports

Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality

Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems

Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems

Work with management to prioritize business and information needs

Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

Collects, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes data in preparation for generation of statistical and analytical reports.

Utilizes specified statistical software to analyze and interpret research data, as appropriate to the individual position.


Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst

Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques

Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)

Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.

Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)

Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings

BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
